The Desert Outdoor Center at Lake Pleasant
Located above Honey Moon Cove on the east side of Lake Pleasant, the Desert Outdoor Center at Lake Pleasant (DOC) has both indoor and outdoor classroom space, private dock, amphitheater and a fantastic view.

How to get there
Take I-17 to the Carefree Hwy. (SR 74). Exit at Carefree Hwy. and travel west approximately 7 miles to Pleasant Harbor Blvd. Turn north (right at the base of the hill) onto Pleasant Harbor Blvd. Continue north past the entrance to Pleasant Harbor Marina to the Desert Outdoor Center entrance gate. Only registered participants and volunteers will be allowed entrance to the Desert Outdoor Center. Follow the attendants parking instructions. Please consider carpooling.
602-372-7470 for DOC information.

What to wear/bring
Please wear footwear conducive to being both aboard a boat (non-marking, non-skid soles please) and for the un-paved quarter-mile hike to the dock area (see venue map). If you are unable to walk a quarter of a mile, cart transport will be available. Please notify a volunteer at check-in.

LPSC members should bring their LPSC membership badges. Bring sunscreen, and if you have a personal life jacket, please bring it. If you don’t own your very own life jacket, this may be a good time to invest in an inflatable. EVERYONE on the docks or aboard any boat involved in the event will be required to wear a USCG approved life jacket. The best way to ensure a good fit and your comfort is to bring your own. We will have life jackets available and will do our best to give you one that is comfortable. Wear clothing appropriate to outdoor conditions. Bring sailing gloves if you have them.

What not to wear/bring
Please travel lightly and keep eyeglasses, keys, cell phones, etc. in a secure place. Valuables, including jewelry, are best left at home. Since many of you will be climbing in and out of boats your stuff may get lost. Any loss of personal belongings is not the responsibility of the Lake Pleasant Sailing Club, the Desert Outdoor Center, boat owners or the instructors. If you don't want to lose it, please don't bring or wear it. Cell phones should be turned off or set on vibrate while classes are in session.

Schedule Changes
Every effort has been made to match each woman with the courses of choice, however it was not possible to accommodate everyone due to limited space aboard boats and a desirable teacher student ratio. Once you receive your schedule it will be very difficult to make changes. Please attend only classes in which you are confirmed as a participant. To assure you're on the correct boat for each class, color coded boarding passes will be distributed at check in.

Weather
Please dress appropriately. The show will go on regardless of the weather, but if it is nasty, our concern is safety. Boats will not go out if the instructors/skippers deem it inclement, but material will be covered in classrooms or dockside. Check Lake Pleasant current weather conditions and forecast.

Food
A light snack and lunch will be served and bottled water will be provided. At registration you will receive a lunch ticket. There are no restaurant facilities at the venue. A few classes will be in session during the lunch period.

Special Concerns
If you have a health concern please bring a sealed envelope with your name and emergency contact information on the outside of the envelope and details including diagnosis, doctor's phone number, medications, etc. sealed inside the envelope to give to your on-the-water instructor. Any special concern envelopes will remain sealed unless there is an emergency. Participants should ask for their envelope when disembarking each vessel. Any envelopes not returned will be shredded without being opened.

Other Questions
For other questions please e-mail the Ladies' Day @ the Lake event coordinator.

Volunteers/Boat donors
Please thank The LD@L committee members: Bruce Andress and Karon Hunsley, are co-directors. Bruce spent untold hours promoting the event, organizing volunteers, vendors, and supporters.
